Can CSK retain their crown?

So, what is our ‘who will win IPL 2024’ prediction? Can CSK retain the trophy they won in 2021? We analyse their chances in light of the mega auction that transformed the compositions of most teams.

While CSK managed to retain their core players such as Rayudu, Dhoni, Bravo, and Jadeja, they are likely to miss having Du Plessis at the top of the order. The former South Africa star played a key role in CSK’s title win in 2021. Between him and Ruturaj Gaikwad, the pair scored more than 1250 runs last season and were largely instrumental in ensuring that CSK were never short of runs in crunch matches.

However, CSK have signed New Zealander Devon Conway who could open the innings with Gaikwad in the upcoming season. The degree of success Conway enjoys in his maiden IPL season could prove crucial to CSK’s fortunes.

Can MI win their sixth title?

Can MI win title six? In the auction, MI focused so much on retaining Ishan Kishan that they let go of players like De Kock, Rahul Chahar, and Krunal Pandya, all of whom were instrumental in ensuring their fifth title win in 2020.

The MI management would also be concerned with Kieron Pollard’s lack of form in the recently concluded West Indies series versus India. With Hardik Pandya also gone to Gujarat Titans, the batting will depend largely on Rohit Sharma and the in-form Surya Kumar Yadav.

While Bumrah continues to be the most lethal bowler in the competition, the rest of the bowling is not as impressive. Though they have invested in Jofra Archer, injury will keep the England paceman out of IPL action this season.

So, “Mumbai Indians” may not be the answer to the question, “Who will win IPL 2024?”

Can DC break their draught?

While there are several other impressive teams this season, we believe that the standout squad after the auction are Delhi Capitals. Delhi Capitals added the likes of Warner and Dhawan, to an already strong core of Pant, Patel, Shaw, and Nortje.

To that lot, add an allrounder called Marsh and bowlers answering to the names of Thakur and Ngidi. You can see that DC have a group of players who are strong in every aspect.

Maybe, DC will provide the answer to the question, “Who will in IPL 2024?”

Glorious uncertainties

We believe that one of the above three could make the IPL trophy their own this summer. However, we also believe in the old adage about the glorious uncertainties of cricket. You will agree with us when you see the composition of the various squads after the mega auction.

So, we may still not have an answer to the question, “Who will win IPL 2024?”

Who Will Win IPL

🎯IPL 2024 auction

We must analyse some things before we look at who will win IPL 2024 astrology predictions. In the recently conducted mega auction, the 10 IPL franchises invested 551.70 crore in 204 players. Mumbai Indians took the most expensive buying decision when they bought back Ishan Kishan for ₹15.25 crore.

Lucknow’s strong showing

The other team that we think did well in the mega auction are Lucknow Super Giants. Thanks to their think tank led by Gautam Gambhir, Lucknow now have batsmen of the calibre of KL Rahul, Quinton De Kock, and Manish Pandey. They also have such allrounders as Marcus Stoinis, Krunal Pandya, Deepak Hooda, and Jason Holder. Their pure bowlers include the likes of Mark Wood, Shahbaz Nadeem, Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan.

So, LSG may be one of the contenders to the question of who will win IPL 2024.

KKR’s pragmatic buys

Kolkata Knight Riders who have been on the fringes after their second title win in 2014 did well to get themselves a captain in Shreyas Iyer. They also bought back Pat Cummins. Importantly, they added Alex Hales, Nitish Rana, Tim Southee and Ajinkya Rahane to their retained quartet of Narine, Chakravarthi, Venkatesh Iyer and Andre Russell.

KKR could be another candidate attempting an answer to the question of who will win IPL 2024.

PBKS make winning moves

At least on paper, Punjab Kings have a decent squad. Batsmen Mayank Agarwal, Shikhar Dhawan, and Jonny Bairstow rub shoulders with allrounders Liam Livingstone and Odean Smith. But most impressive is their bowling line up boasting the likes of Rahul Chahar, Kagiso Rabada, and Arshdeep Singh.

Perhaps, we have one more possible answer to the question as to who will win IPL 2024.

Royals step forward

Another squad that appear ready to field 11 frontline players are Rajasthan Royals. Their batting that already boasts the redoubtable Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler has been bolstered by the inclusion of Devdutt Padikkal and Van der Dussen. Allrounders Ravi Ashwin, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Jimmy Neesham have bowlers Yuzvendra Chahal, Trent Boult, and Prasidh Krishna for company.

RCB tick the right boxes

Royal Challengers Bangalore bought Faf Du Plessis to bolster a batting line up led by Virat Kohli. They also have an impressive array of allrounders, such as Maxwell, Hasaranga, and Harshal Patel. Their bowling line up boasts the likes of M Siraj, and Josh Hazlewood. If RCB fans have reason to complain, it must be about failing to buy back Padikkal and KS Bharath who were pillars in their batting line up last season. But the inclusion of old warhorse Dinesh Karthik could yet prove a winning move.

RCB could finally lift their maiden IPL crown and provide us an affirmative answer to the question, who will win IPL 2024.

Gujarat bank on Hardik

In an interesting move, Gujarat have appointed Hardik Pandya as their skipper. The batting boasts the likes of Jason Roy, Shubman Gill, Mathew Wade and David Miller. Other than Hardik himself, the squad is served by the allround skills of Vijay Shankar. The bowling led by Lockie Fergusson also has the likes of Md Shami, Alzarri Joseph and Rashid Khan.

Hardik Pandya’s wards could yet prove key to answering the question, who will win IPL 2024.

SRH look for good value

Sunrisers Hyderabad who had a disappointing season last year are another side who don’t have a surfeit of big names, with the possible exception of skipper Kane Williamson. They appear to have played a conservative game at the mega auction, investing in such batsmen as Aiden Markram and Rahul Tripathi.

However, their wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran’s current form should give the SRH management cause for cheer. Washington Sundar adds allround value, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan are familiar names in the bowling department.

📢IPL retention 2024

Do you want to know our who will win IPL 2024 prediction? The existing eight franchises were allowed to retain up to four players each ahead of the auction. Meanwhile, the two new franchises were allowed to select three players each from the left over players.

Four of the existing franchises (Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Mumbai Indians) decided to retain four players each. Three franchises (RR, RCB, and SRH) retained three each, while PBKS were content with retaining only two players

Franchises with four retained players

MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Moeen Ali were retained by CSK. Anrich Nortje, Axar Patel, Rishabh Pant, and Prithvi Shaw were held on to by DC. Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy, Andre Russell, and Venkatesh Iyer were retained by KKR. Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, and Suryakumar Yadav were kept by MI.

Players retained by other existing franchises

Arshdeep Singh and Mayank Agarwal were retained by PBKS. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, and Sanju Samson were held on to by RR. Glenn Maxwell, Virat Kohli, and Md Siraj were the retained players of RCB. Umran Malik, Kane Williamson, and Abdul Samad were kept by SRH.

Players selected by new franchises

While Lucknow retained KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, and Ravi Bishnoi, Gujarat decided to keep Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill.

🏆IPL points table 2024:

Who will win IPL 2024 final match? IPL 2024 will have 10 ten teams that will be divided – via a random draw — into two groups of five teams each. Each team in a group will play every other team in that group twice each. Every team in a group will one match each against four teams of the other group, and two matches against the fifth team of the other group. Thus, each team will play 14 matches in the group stage. In all, 70 group matches will be played before the play offs.

Computation of Points

Two points will be awarded for each match won, while one point will accrue in the event of a tie or a no result. No points will be awarded to a losing team in a match. The top four teams – in terms of points – will qualify for the playoffs. The two top ranked teams will meet in a ‘qualifier one’ match. (For the purpose of ranking, a higher Net Run Rate (NRR) will determine which of two teams with the same number of points will prevail over the other.) NRR will be calculated by using the formula, 6*[(Runs scored/balls faced) – (Runs conceded/balls bowled)].

The Final Contest

Teams ranked three and four will meet in an ‘eliminator’ match. The winner of ‘qualifier one’ will get direct entry into the final. The loser of the ‘qualifier one’ game will face off in a ‘qualifier two’ match against the winner of the ‘eliminator,’ to decide the second team in the final. Thus, the winners of qualifiers one and two will compete for the title.

🏏IPL orange Cap & IPL purple cap 2024

The IPL orange cap is an award given in a season to the player scoring the most runs. In IPL 2021, the orange cap went to opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad of Chennai Super Kings. Gaikwad scored 635 runs in 16 matches to win the award, just two runs more than his fellow opener , Du Plessis, in the CSK squad. The IPL purple cap is awarded to the bowler who takes most wickets in an IPL season. In the IPL 2021 season, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s pace bowler Harshal Patel won the IPL purple cap after taking 32 wickets in 15 matches. Based on the form of various players, we consider
