The 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers competition is played among associate members of the ICC. Sixteen teams have been divided into two groups (A and B) of eight each. Two teams will qualify from each group to play in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2024.
For the first time ever, the qualifiers are being organised by two different countries. Matches of the first group are currently underway in Oman. Group B matches are due to be hosted by Zimbabwe in July 2024. The group A teams are Bahrain, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Nepal, Oman, Philippines, and United Arab Emirates.

Completed League Matches
The teams were further divided into two round robin leagues of four teams each. Ireland and UAE came first and second respectively in the first league. Meanwhile, Nepal and Oman were the top two in the second league. The two leading teams of each league advanced to the semifinals. The other four advanced to the consolation play-offs.
In the completed consolation play-offs on 22nd February Canada prevailed over Germany while Bahrain beat Philippines. In the 5th place semi-final, Germany batted first and scored 131 for six. Chasing 132 to win, Canada reached the target with three balls and four wickets to spare. In the other fifth place semifinal, Bahrain batted first and piled up 191 for five in their allotted overs. Chasing 192 to win, Philippines were restricted to 100 for nine.
In the first semi-final Ireland batted first and scored 165/7 in their allotted 20 overs. For Ireland, Gareth Delany top scored with 47. For Oman, Bilal Khan who took three for 23 was the most successful bowler. Chasing 166 to win, Oman were bowled out for 109 in 18.3 overs. Shoaib Khan who scored 30 from 22 balls was the top scorer for Oman. Meanwhile, Simi Singh took three for 20 to emerge Ireland’s best bowler on the day. Ireland’s Andy McBrine was named player of the match. The player scored 36 and took two for 24 in an all-round display of talent.
In the other semi-final, UAE batted first against Nepal to score 175 for seven in their allotted overs. Mohammed Waseem who made 70 from 48 balls was UAE’s best batsman. For Nepal, Jitendra Mukhiya took three for 35 in three overs to emerge their best bowler. When Nepal replied, they were bowled out for 107 in 18.4 overs. Deepender Singh Airee who made 30 was Nepal’s top scorer. For UAE, Ahmad Raza took 5 for 19 to become their most successful bowler. Thanks to his effort, Raza was named player of the match.
Ireland, UAE to meet in final on 24 February
On 24 February, Germany and Philippines will meet in the seventh place play-offs while Bahrain and Canada will compete for fifth place.
