The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has announced a well-deserved reward of USD 50,000 for the Senior Indian Women’s National Team, affectionately known as the Blue Tigresses, following their spectacular performance in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers in Thailand. This investment has paid off handsomely, with the number of registered women footballers in India surging by an incredible 232% in just one year. It’s a clear indication that the sport is gaining momentum and inspiring a new generation of players.
Preparation for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers was intense and strategic. The Blue Tigresses underwent a rigorous 53-day national camp, which included local practice matches in Bengaluru and two FIFA Women’s International Friendlies against Uzbekistan, another qualifier for the continental tournament.
