Arsenal seals £70m star with five-year deal as Berta nears second blockbuster summer signing.

Arsenal seals £70m star with five-year deal as Berta nears second blockbuster summer signing.

Arsenal’s summer transfer plans are heating up as the Gunners edge closer to securing a marquee signing to bolster their attacking options. The North London club are reportedly on the verge of completing a deal for Sporting CP’s prolific striker Viktor Gyokeres, while also eyeing AS Monaco’s rising star Maghnes Akliouche.

The Gunners have already made their first move of the transfer window, securing Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga as a backup goalkeeper. However, Mikel Arteta’s ambitions don’t stop there. The Spanish tactician is targeting reinforcements in multiple positions, including a centre-back, creative midfielder, left-winger, and, most importantly, a striker.

When it comes to the striker role, the battle has long been between RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Sporting’s goal machine Viktor Gyokeres. With Arsenal’s new sporting director Andrea Berta leaning heavily towards Gyokeres, the Swedish forward is now the priority target. Gyokeres’ incredible tally of 54 goals in 52 games last season speaks volumes about his ability to transform Arsenal’s frontline.

French outlet L’Equipe reports that Gyokeres is Arsenal’s top target, but the club is also keeping tabs on Monaco’s versatile winger Maghnes Akliouche. Berta is working tirelessly to secure both deals, aiming to make a significant impact in the transfer market this summer.

Negotiations for Gyokeres are reportedly progressing well, with Arsenal closing in on an agreement. Despite interest from several English clubs, including Manchester United, the 27-year-old striker is said to be eager to join Arteta’s project in North London. Transfer expert Sacha Tavolieri has revealed that Arsenal and Gyokeres have already agreed on a five-year contract, with talks with Sporting CP reaching an advanced stage.

While Gyokeres’ name has been on the radar for months, Maghnes Akliouche is a lesser-known talent who could add depth and creativity to Arsenal’s squad. The 23-year-old predominantly plays on the right wing but can also operate as a No.10, making him a versatile option for Arteta’s system. His potential signing could be separate from Arsenal’s pursuit of a left-winger, as is the case with their interest in Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.

As the Gunners continue to work behind the scenes to strengthen their squad, fans are buzzing with anticipation. Will Gyokeres and Akliouche be the missing pieces to help Arsenal mount a serious Premier League title challenge? Only time will tell.
