Arsenal eye shock Chelsea move after Gunners suffer major setback with deal terms now in place.

Arsenal eye shock Chelsea move after Gunners suffer major setback with deal terms now in place.

In a stunning twist of the summer transfer saga, Arsenal have reportedly set their sights on a bold raid of their Premier League rivals Chelsea. This comes after the Gunners missed out on a key target, who is now likely to join FC Barcelona.

This transfer window is crucial for Arsenal, who are desperate to make a statement following a heart-wrenching 2024/25 campaign. Despite pushing hard, they finished second in the Premier League and ended the season without silverware, leaving fans yearning for redemption.

However, the North London club has stumbled out of the gates this summer, yet to secure a single signing. Meanwhile, reigning Premier League champions Liverpool are already on the verge of their fourth acquisition, adding pressure on Arsenal to act swiftly.

The Gunners’ top priority remains securing a new striker, but reports suggest they’ve hit a roadblock that may force them to rethink their primary target. Additionally, they are keen to bolster their wide areas, seeking a quality upgrade to support Gabriel Martinelli and ease the burden on Bukayo Saka, who carried the attacking load last season.

Among the names linked to Arsenal is Athletic Bilbao’s rising star Nico Williams, a long-term target for the Premier League giants. However, their hopes have been dashed as recent reports indicate Williams is set to join La Liga champions Barcelona, with an agreement already in place.

With their plans in disarray, Arsenal have turned their attention to Chelsea’s Noni Madueke, as per a report from Caught Offside. The English winger has emerged as a ‘serious candidate’ for the Gunners, who are now ‘ramping up their interest’ after the Williams setback.

Madueke, a target for several top European clubs including AC Milan, Napoli, and Newcastle United, could be on the move this summer. Chelsea, under new manager Enzo Maresca, are reportedly open to letting him go and have set an asking price of €60–65 million, though they may accept a fee closer to €50 million.

‘Madueke has become a serious candidate under consideration by the North London club’s recruitment team. While Chelsea have not formally listed Madueke for sale, internal sources indicate that the winger is not viewed as a key figure in the long-term project under new manager Enzo Maresca.

‘The club is open to considering offers, and while they have initially set a price tag of €60–65 million, it is believed they would be willing to accept a fee closer to €50 million.’

Arsenal’s transfer activity doesn’t stop there. They’ve also reportedly secured the signing of midfielder Martin Zubimendi, but in a surprising turn of events, The Mirror claims the Gunners could make a shock move for Brentford’s Christian Norgaard. This comes as Thomas Partey is expected to depart the Emirates when his contract expires on June 30.
