In a surprising twist ahead of the much-anticipated clash between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic Eden Gardens, Yuzvendra Chahal, PBKS’s legendary leg-spinner, was seen experimenting with off-spin in the nets. The Punjab Kings shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) that quickly went viral, showcasing Chahal’s playful yet skillful transition to off-spin bowling.
Known for his charismatic presence in the dressing room, Chahal appeared in high spirits as he joked around while delivering off-spinners—a rare sight for fans accustomed to his lethal leg-breaks. This light-hearted moment, however, doesn’t overshadow his crucial role in PBKS’s campaign this season. In the reverse fixture against KKR earlier this year, Chahal turned the tide in PBKS’s favor with a jaw-dropping performance, claiming two wickets in two balls.

Chahal’s magic spell included dismissing KKR’s Rinku Singh via stumping and Ramandeep Singh with a sharp catch, triggering KKR’s collapse. Earlier in the same match, he sent back KKR captain Rahane, who was in fine form, and Angkrish Raghuvanshi, the team’s top scorer. With figures of 4/28 in his four overs, Chahal was rightly crowned the Player of the Match.

Chahal’s dominance against KKR is no secret. He once claimed a hat-trick against them while playing for Rajasthan Royals in 2022. Across IPL history, he has taken 33 wickets in 23 matches against KKR, with 10 of those coming at the Eden Gardens.
Currently, Chahal holds the record for the highest wickets in IPL history, with an astonishing 214 scalps from 168 matches.
