Chelsea legend urges Blues star to make the switch to Arsenal, calling it the perfect fit.

Chelsea legend urges Blues star to make the switch to Arsenal, calling it the perfect fit.

Florent Malouda, a Chelsea legend, has shared his thoughts on a potential move for a current Blues forward, suggesting that a transfer to Arsenal could be a smart move if the player is looking for the right environment to thrive. The former Chelsea star believes that Arsenal is the “right place to go” for the player in question.

At Chelsea, player turnover is a common occurrence, with the club’s recent owners showing a willingness to spend big on new talent. With Todd Boehly at the helm, it’s clear that the Blues are already planning for a busy summer transfer window, with several high-profile names being linked to the club.

As a result, some players are likely to be shown the exit door, and Christopher Nkunku appears to be one of the first candidates. Reports suggest that Chelsea is open to selling the forward, as his move from RB Leipzig hasn’t quite worked out as expected. Recently, it was revealed that several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Arsenal, are interested in securing his services. Additionally, Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have also been heavily linked with the Frenchman.

Malouda, who has a deep understanding of the game, has weighed in on Nkunku’s potential destinations. He believes that Arsenal or Bayern Munich would be ideal clubs for the forward to continue his career. However, he also expressed his hope that Nkunku could stay at Chelsea and fight to prove his worth.

“Arsenal or Bayern Munich would be the right kind of places for him to go, but I’m not sure he should leave Chelsea. Personally, I like him as a player and as a person. I’d love to see him fight and prove what he showed in the beginning,” Malouda told Racing Tipster.

He also highlighted the mental aspect of the game, comparing Nkunku’s situation to that of Jadon Sancho. “It’s more of a mental challenge that he needs to work on. Moving clubs can sometimes feel like running away from what you need to adjust to. He’s used to the Bundesliga, but at Bayern, there would be competition too. So, for me, he has more to improve on,” Malouda added.

Despite his struggles, Malouda believes that Nkunku has the potential to bounce back. “It’s like he’s given up mentally, and that’s what he needs to adjust. But Bayern Munich or Arsenal would be good clubs for him to continue his development and prepare for the World Cup next year,” he concluded.

Whether Nkunku has a say in his next destination remains to be seen. While he could reject personal terms with a club he’s sold to, it seems increasingly likely that Chelsea will be looking to offload him this summer.

With the Frenchman having played fewer than 1,000 minutes in the Premier League this season—most of which came when Nicolas Jackson was injured—a move could provide him with a fresh start and a better opportunity to showcase his talent.
