Heather Knight Ruled Out of ENG-W vs WI-W Series with Hamstring Injury, Heartfelt Social Media Post Stirs Emotions

Heather Knight Ruled Out of ENG-W vs WI-W Series with Hamstring Injury, Heartfelt Social Media Post Stirs Emotions

The dawn of the Charlotte Edwards-Nat Sciver-Brunt era for England Women started with a resounding 3-0 victory over West Indies Women in the home T20I series. However, the momentum has hit a snag as the team faces a significant blow with Heather Knight being ruled out due to a hamstring injury ahead of the three-match ODI series against the Windies.

Knight’s absence isn’t limited to the ODI series alone. An official statement from the ECB confirmed she will miss the entire home summer schedule, including the high-stakes series against India in June and July, as well as the Women’s Hundred in August.

The statement detailed, “An MRI scan has revealed that Heather Knight has sustained a significant tendon injury to her right hamstring, ruling her out of home international cricket and The Hundred in 2025. She will undergo further assessment with the England Women’s medical team to outline her recovery plan. While no exact return date is set, the hope is for her to be fit in time for the ICC Women’s World Cup in September 2025.”

“I’ve got the World Cup in my sights.” – Heather Knight

The former England captain sustained the injury during her match-winning knock of 66* off 47 balls in the final T20I. She was visibly troubled by her hamstring in the latter stages of her innings and was unable to take the field in the second half. Knight took to social media to share her emotions in a heartfelt post that quickly went viral: “It was fun whilst it lasted… Unfortunately, I’ve damaged my right hamstring tendon pretty badly and will miss the rest of the international summer and The Hundred. But I’ve got the World Cup in my sights. I’m gutted—it’s not the best timing—but I’ll do everything I can to return asap. I’ve been here before, and I’ll face this head-on like all the challenges in my career.”
