Liverpool’s £51m target gets transfer green light following second signing.

Liverpool’s £51m target gets transfer green light following second signing.

Liverpool are making waves in the transfer market as they edge closer to securing their next big signings, with Bayer Leverkusen’s dynamic defender Jeremie Frimpong reportedly set to join the ranks at Anfield. The Reds, fresh off a dream debut season under Arne Slot that culminated in a Premier League title triumph in April, are already plotting an even stronger campaign for the upcoming term.

According to reliable sources, Liverpool have finalized the deal for Frimpong, who is expected to undergo his medical this Monday. The 23-year-old Dutch right-back, known for his blistering pace and attacking prowess, is seen as the ideal replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold as the Reds aim to strengthen their defensive options.

But the Merseyside giants aren’t stopping there. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano recently took to X to reveal that Liverpool have initiated talks with Bournemouth for their highly-rated left-back Milos Kerkez. Romano stated: “Understand Liverpool have contacted Bournemouth for Milos Kerkez deal with talks now advancing! Liverpool are also completing the agreement on personal terms with Kerkez, keen on the move. Negotiations underway between clubs on transfer fee.”

Adding fuel to the fire, journalist Nicolo Schira reported that Kerkez has already given his approval for the move, with Liverpool prepared to offer him a long-term contract until 2030. Schira tweeted: “Excl. – Positive talks between Milos #Kerkez’s agent (Fali Ramadani) and #Liverpool in the last days. The left fullback has given his availability to join #Reds. Ready a contract until 2030. #LFC are now working to try to reach an agreement with #Bournemouth, which ask 45-50M.”

If negotiations go smoothly, Kerkez is set to become Liverpool’s second signing of the summer, with whispers growing louder that RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons could be their third acquisition. The Dutch attacking midfielder has been a standout performer in the Bundesliga this season, tallying ten goals and seven assists in 25 league appearances. Leipzig, however, are reportedly holding out for a hefty €60m (£50.5m) fee to part ways with their star player.

Graeme Bailey of TBR Football confirmed Liverpool’s interest in Simons, stating: “In the background, Liverpool did do a lot of checks on [Jeremie] Frimpong over the last few months, and interestingly, they’ve done similar investigations on Xavi Simons. I keep coming back to Simons; they like him an awful lot, and they’ve done the work on him, obviously speaking to Ryan Gravenberch. I’ve been told not to rule out the prospect that Liverpool’s hierarchy will have spoken to Jurgen Klopp about Simons, which I think is interesting.”

With the transfer window heating up, Liverpool fans have every reason to be excited. The club’s ambitious moves signal their intent to dominate both domestically and in Europe next season. Stay tuned for more updates as the Reds continue to build their dream squad.
