Delhi Capitals’ rising star Vipraj Nigam has downplayed the notion of home advantage in the IPL, emphasizing that all teams are equally prepared for every venue. As the Capitals gear up for their clash against Lucknow Super Giants, Nigam shared his insights on the matter, shedding light on the dynamics of the tournament.
This season, several teams, including Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Chennai Super Kings, have struggled to capitalize on their home grounds. However, Nigam believes the issue goes beyond pitch conditions. “Home conditions don’t offer a significant edge in the IPL,” he stated during the pre-match press conference. “While familiarity with the weather and ground dimensions helps, all teams prepare similarly, leveling the playing field.”
Nigam, who sees himself as a versatile all-rounder, is determined to make a mark with both bat and ball. “I consider myself an all-rounder,” he said confidently. “My goal is to contribute in every way possible—whether it’s with the ball or stepping up with the bat when the team needs me.”
Looking ahead to the high-stakes encounter against LSG, Nigam is banking on his experience from the UPT20 League, which was held in Lucknow. “Having played in the UP T20 League, Sameer and I have a good understanding of the ground. We’ll aim to replicate the same strategies that worked for us there,” he added.
The much-anticipated match between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants will take place at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. As both teams vie for supremacy, Nigam’s all-round prowess could prove pivotal in shaping the outcome.
