Manchester United Shake-Up: Three Key Players Transfer-Listed
Manchester United have made a bold move in their summer rebuild, placing three players signed under Erik ten Hag, including Rasmus Hojlund, on the transfer list. The Danish striker, who joined from Atalanta for a hefty £64million in 2023, is reportedly available for £34.5million after a lackluster season.
Hojlund’s time at Old Trafford has been far from smooth. He struggled to make an impact in the Premier League, failing to score until his 15th appearance, when he finally found the back of the net against Aston Villa on Boxing Day. Though he briefly sparked hope with seven goals and two assists in seven matches, his overall performance was disappointing, netting just four goals in 32 league appearances as United slumped to a dismal 15th-place finish.
This underwhelming form has caught the attention of co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is now considering offloading the 22-year-old. Reports suggest Italian giants Inter Milan are keen on acquiring Hojlund, albeit on a loan deal. However, United are reportedly pushing for a permanent transfer to generate funds for their ongoing squad overhaul.
According to Interlive.it, Hojlund is already on the transfer list despite his desire to stay at the club. The report intriguingly notes that he would only leave if United decide to sell him—a decision that appears to have already been made.
Rebuilding the Red Devils
New manager Ruben Amorim is tasked with revitalizing the squad, and it seems Hojlund is among the players he’s willing to part with to free up resources. Inter’s preference for a loan deal, potentially with a conditional obligation to buy, remains on the table. However, United’s INEOS leadership is adamant about securing a permanent sale, as seen in their negotiations for Jadon Sancho with Juventus.
The Red Devils are reportedly seeking around £38.8-43.1million for Hojlund, a significant markdown from the £64million they paid Atalanta just a year ago. Meanwhile, Inter’s interest may hinge on the future of Marcus Thuram, with the club also considering their in-house talent, Pio Esposito, who impressed at the Club World Cup.
Hojlund isn’t the only Ten Hag signing facing an exit. Joshua Zirkzee and Andre Onana are also on the transfer list as Amorim looks to reshape the squad ahead of the new season.
