In a move that has sent waves of excitement through the football community, Mumbai City FC has secured the signature of the highly promising midfielder, Zothanpuia, from Aizawl FC. The 20-year-old prodigy has penned a three-year deal with the Islanders, marking a significant step in his burgeoning career.
Zothanpuia, affectionately known as ‘Puipuia’, began his professional journey with Electric Veng FC in Mizoram in 2022. His impressive performances soon earned him a spot with Oranje FC in the I-League 2 during the 2023-24 season. Following a stint with Southern Samity in the 2024 Calcutta League, he joined Aizawl FC for their I-League campaign in the 2024-25 season. Over the course of 20 appearances, he notched up three goals and two assists, showcasing his versatility and skill in midfield.
With an eye on the future, Mumbai City FC is injecting fresh talent and youthful exuberance into their squad ahead of the 2025-26 season. The acquisition of Zothanpuia is a strategic move to fortify the midfield, bringing in a player with the potential to make a significant impact as the club gears up for the challenges ahead.
