Scholes slams Amorim’s ‘madness’ as Man Utd boss risks regret with controversial decision leaving bitter taste.

Paul Schies predicts Europa League winner as Man United face Tottenham in a final reminiscent of Real Madrid.

Paul Scholes Slams Manchester United’s Premier League Sacrifice as “Madness”

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has launched a scathing critique of current manager Ruben Amorim, labelling the team’s approach to the Premier League as “madness” that leaves a “bad taste in the mouth.” The Red Devils are enduring a torrid domestic campaign, languishing in 15th place after winning just ten of their 35 matches this season.

Europa League Offers a Glimmer of Hope

However, the Europa League could be United’s saving grace. A sensational brace from Mason Mount on Thursday powered the team to a dominant 7-1 aggregate victory over Athletic Club, securing their spot in the final against Tottenham on May 21. A win in the final would not only bring silverware but also guarantee entry into the Champions League next season, a crucial factor in attracting top talent for the anticipated summer rebuild.

Scholes’ Frustration with United’s Priorities

While former teammates Roy Keane and Gary Neville have debated a potential rule change to block United’s Champions League entry, Scholes is more incensed by the club’s apparent abandonment of the Premier League. United have lost four of their last six league games, and Scholes believes the team’s acceptance of their poor form is unacceptable.

“Manchester United should be able to compete in two or three competitions without sacrificing one for another,” Scholes told TNT Sports. “They’ve clearly sacrificed the league, and I find that hard to stomach. There has to be a certain standard required in a Premier League team.”

Acceptance of Failure Leaves a Bitter Aftertaste

Scholes went further, accusing Amorim and the players of complacency. “It’s almost as if they’re going into Premier League games with an acceptance that they’re not going to win. That’s madness. The manager won’t admit it, but it’s clear he’s not setting up teams to win these games. Even the fans seem resigned to the league being a disaster.”

While Scholes acknowledges that Champions League qualification through the Europa League would ease some frustrations, he warns that the club could regret their neglect of the Premier League. “There’s a bad taste left by the league form, and it might haunt them next season. You can’t just flip a switch and expect to perform brilliantly in the league next year.”

A Risky Gamble for the Future

Scholes concluded with a stark warning: “Sacrificing the Premier League for Champions League football next season is a risky move. The manager should be using these games to learn how to win when the team isn’t at its best. That’s a skill they’ll need again in the future.”
