The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has made a game-changing move by appointing former Australian speedster Shaun Tait as the national team’s pace bowling coach. The 42-year-old, known for his fiery deliveries and unmatched aggression on the field, has inked a long-term contract that commits him to Bangladesh’s cricketing journey until November 2027.
Tait’s appointment is a masterstroke, bringing a wealth of experience to the table. A key member of Australia’s triumphant 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup squad, he boasts an impressive career with 95 wickets across 59 international matches. His coaching credentials are equally stellar, having honed the fast-bowling talents of teams like Pakistan, West Indies, and Afghanistan, transforming them into formidable forces on the pitch.
“It’s a Good Time to Be Involved with Bangladesh Cricket” – Shaun Tait
Tait radiated enthusiasm as he spoke about his new role. “It’s a good time to be involved with the Bangladesh cricket team right now—a new era, if you will. The young talent in the fast-bowling department is undeniable, and my focus is on turning that potential into results. This is international cricket, and the expectations are high. I’m here to ensure the bowlers deliver, and more importantly, to help the team secure more victories,” he said.
He also expressed his excitement about collaborating with head coach Phil Simmons. “Working with Phil Simmons is an incredible opportunity, and I’m eager to embark on this journey together,” Tait added.
Tait’s arrival signals a fresh chapter for Bangladesh’s coaching staff, replacing Andre Adams, whose tenure concluded after a series of underwhelming performances in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year.
