Gujarat Titans’ (GT) rising star Sai Sudharsan lit up the IPL 2025 with a spectacular performance, amassing 759 runs at an astonishing average of 54.21 and a blistering strike rate of 156.17. Yet, despite his heroics, GT’s journey came to an abrupt end in the eliminator as the Mumbai Indians (MI) clinched victory. Reflecting on the season, Sudharsan candidly admitted that he still has a long way to go to perfect his craft as a T20 batter.
When probed about his chances in the upcoming T20 World Cup next year, Sudharsan responded with humility and focus: “Playing for the country is undoubtedly a dream for every cricketer, and I would love to seize that opportunity. However, I’m not dwelling on it right now. This season has shown me that there are multiple areas I need to improve as a T20 player. From technique to game awareness, there’s a lot to work on. My focus is on refining these aspects. When the chance comes, I’ll give my all for India.”
“County Experience Has Been a Game-Changer” – Sai Sudharsan
Sudharsan’s journey in IPL 2025 was nothing short of remarkable, but the premature exit left a bitter aftertaste. He shared his thoughts on the team’s performance: “It’s heartening to see that I had a consistent season and contributed significantly to the team. However, when the job isn’t finished, you don’t get that ultimate satisfaction. There’s a sense of disappointment in the camp because of how well we played in the first 12-13 games. Looking back, our team was exceptional, and we executed a lot of plans brilliantly. But ending the tournament this way doesn’t bring complete fulfillment. Still, it’s important to appreciate the performances and learn from the experience.”
Having already donned the Indian jersey in white-ball cricket with 3 ODIs and a T20 match under his belt, Sudharsan is now gearing up for a new challenge. He has been selected for the Indian Test team’s tour of England. Reflecting on his county cricket experience, he said: “Playing seven county games was incredibly enriching. It elevated my batting in multiple dimensions—technique, basics, and mindset. It reinforced the importance of fundamentals in batting. I’ll carry those lessons forward and stay sharp as I prepare for the England series.”
