Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have made a significant move by announcing New Zealand’s dynamic wicketkeeper-batter Tim Seifert as the temporary replacement for Jacob Bethell. The young English talent is set to return to England for national duties following RCB’s upcoming clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Bethell is part of England’s squad for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against West Indies, which kicks off on May 29 and runs through June 10.

Who is Tim Seifert, and what’s his IPL price tag?
Tim Seifert, known for his explosive batting style, brings a wealth of experience to the table. He has played 66 T20Is for New Zealand, amassing 1,540 runs in 63 innings at a strike rate of 142.85, including 10 half-centuries. Despite being part of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) previously, he didn’t get a chance to showcase his skills. This time, with RCB, fans are eager to see if he’ll make his IPL debut. Seifert joins RCB for a hefty price of INR 2 crore.
On the other hand, Jacob Bethell had a decent run in IPL 2025, scoring 67 runs in two matches, including a fifty, at an impressive strike rate of 171.79. RCB, already securing their spot in the playoffs, are aiming to finish in the top two to secure a place in Qualifier 1. Currently, they sit in second place with 17 points from 12 matches and a net run rate of +0.482. Their next match is against SRH on May 23 in Lucknow.
