The cricketing world is set to witness another exciting clash as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) prepares to host Bangladesh for a two-match T20I series at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The matches are scheduled for May 17 and May 19, promising a thrilling spectacle for fans of the sport.
This will mark the second time in three years that these two nations face off in a bilateral T20I series. Their previous encounter in September 2022 in Dubai was a memorable one, and this upcoming series is expected to be no different.
Subhan Ahmad, COO of the Emirates Cricket Board, expressed his enthusiasm for the series, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome the Bangladesh men’s team once again for this T20I series. Our aim is to provide the UAE national team with invaluable experience by competing against established cricketing nations.”
Over the past few years, the UAE has emerged as a prominent venue for international cricket, hosting several ICC Full Member nations, including New Zealand, the West Indies, and Afghanistan. The return of Bangladesh further cements the UAE’s reputation as a hub for high-quality cricket.
Following this series, Bangladesh will continue their preparations for the Asia Cup with a five-match T20I series in Pakistan. Their packed schedule also includes a tour of Sri Lanka, featuring two Tests, three ODIs, and two T20Is, before hosting India in August for a limited-overs series.
BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury highlighted the significance of the series, saying, “We are grateful to the Emirates Cricket Board for organizing this series. It will be a crucial opportunity for our squad as we gear up for a demanding international calendar. These matches will not only serve as preparation but also strengthen our cricketing relationship with the ECB and provide fans with top-notch cricket action.”
